Pre-Assembled Unit. This circuit controls incandescent lamps in response to ambient sound. This circuit connects directly to 120VAC, and can control up to 2amps (240W) of incandescent lamps per channel. An on-board microphone picks up ambient sound and modulates the lights. Each of the 3 channels responds to a certain portion of the audio spectrum (Bass, Mid-range, and Treble). This circuit is a major improvement over the old "color organ" circuit of the 70s. That circuit used probability (hit-n-miss) to roughly adjust brightness. This circuit uses true proportional pulse-width-modulation (PWM), to adjust brightness. It really takes advantage of the properties of the bidirectional thyristor, known as a TRIAC, to control brightness. Its not that crappy "color organ" circuit, of the 70's, that has just been blindly aped on the internet. No real original thought ! This circuit, syncs with the AC waveform, for true PWM. Mind the "Seven-Ps" people !
External connection are all made by way on 4 2-pin screw terminal blocks. They look like one 8-pin block, because they are interlocking, and come that way in the kit.
